<image:caption>Sylvia Mallory is a writer, storyteller, and ceramic artist whose work delves into the divine feminine within the universe, our bodies, and the symbols of womanhood. She is currently sculpting figurines that celebrate fat joy as a way to confront her own fatphobia and history with disordered eating as a fat woman. Creative writing and poetry naturally flow into her artistic practice, with her slab poetry series set to debut during winter solstice 2025. Sylvia discovered ceramics two years ago and fell in love with handbuilding and sculpture. She is a studio member of Clay Ground in Richmond, VA. In addition, Sylvia is the founder and owner of The Crone House, a gallery that celebrates the women and femmes still making art. @glazeslut Photo Credit: Allie Mullin</image:caption>

<image:title>Online Gallery - The Mother – Nicole Revy - Nicole Revy – Relief Printmaker & Illustrator</image:title>
<image:caption>Nicole Revy is a relief printmaker and illustrator based in Dorset, England, creating soulful lino and woodcut prints under the name Prints by the Bay. With a degree in Illustration from the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB), Nicole brings a narrative-driven approach to her work, weaving together her artistic practice with a deep interest in storytelling, folklore, and the exploration of human experience. Her prints are a visual reflection of themes central to her life and values, particularly womanhood, female experience, and body autonomy. These themes are intricately entwined with the natural world, a constant source of inspiration for Nicole. Her work explores the connection between women and the environment, celebrating the strength, resilience, and beauty of both the female form and the landscapes we inhabit. Drawing on earthy color palettes, her prints evoke a sense of grounding and connection to the earth, while her detailed, emotive compositions tell stories that resonate deeply with viewers. Nicole’s work is stocked in galleries and shops worldwide, and she regularly exhibits in group shows and print fairs, where her evocative prints captivate audiences. This year marks an exciting milestone in her career, as she publishes her first illustrated children’s book, expanding her storytelling to new generations. With a strong commitment to exploring personal and universal themes through the medium of relief printmaking, Nicole continues to create art that connects, inspires, and empowers. @printsbythebay</image:caption>

<image:title>Online Gallery - Wading In The Waterlilies – Maggie Belinski - Maggie Belinski – Ceramic Artist & Painter</image:title>
<image:caption>I am a ceramic artist and painter living in Richmond, VA, and a recent Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts graduate. I work in many media, including oils, acrylics, clay, and textiles. I enjoy making things that can be used and/or appreciated in everyday life. My work focuses on death and rebirth to show that death is the natural progression of the life cycle that allows us to appreciate life more. I often use mushrooms as a symbol of rebirth from something that has died. I have also begun exploring feminism through the lens of witchcraft, as the term witch was originally a negative term to villainize women, but has been reclaimed by women to show how powerful women are. When I started my spiritual journey into witchcraft, my art style transformed. In Witch culture, there is an appreciation for nature and the cycles within it, which is what drew me in. I began to address ideas about the life cycle, death and rebirth, the modern witch, and feminism. Through my work, I focus on death to try to spin the view that I have on it from a fearful and negative thing; when in reality it is the natural and beautiful progression of the life cycle. @artbymeb</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sylvia Mallory (she/her) is a writer and ceramic artist whose career has always lived at the intersection of story, community, and creative work. Originally from Chillicothe, Ohio, she earned her BFA in Directing from Ohio University in 2004 and later completed her K–12 Theatre teaching certification at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her early theatre work included producing, directing, and new play development in Chicago, Washington, DC, and North Carolina. She held an artistic, marketing, and development internship at the Tony Award–winning® Victory Gardens Theater, and later served as the Digital Media Manager at Tony Award–winning® Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia. In 2009, she founded and led The Distillery, a Raleigh-based theatre company focused on new and devised work. After moving to Richmond in 2015, Sylvia shifted into creative producing and copywriting consulting for women entrepreneurs and small business owners. She also founded the Wonder Women Art Show in 2018 and 2019, benefiting Safe Harbor Shelters. Ceramics found her in 2022 after going through some tough shit. She hated the wheel but fell hard for handbuilding and sculpture. Her ceramic work explores symbols of the Divine Feminine, utilizing intuitive handbuilding techniques to discover stories hidden within us—a somatic ritual of clay and body. She co-led Clay Windows of Richmond during NCECA Week 2024, a citywide collaboration featuring more than 60 artists and 40 businesses. In 2024, she launched The Crone House, a Richmond-based art gallery that celebrates the women still making art, and the badass women collecting their work. She is also a studio member at Clay Ground in Richmond, VA—her favorite place to explore her unrelenting glaze obsession. @glazeslut Photo Credit: Allie Mullin</image:caption>

<image:title>Online Gallery - Stream Of Consciousness – Blythe King - Blythe King – Collage</image:title>
<image:caption>Blythe King's work is exceptional for its moving revelations in image transfer, collage, and the ancient art of gold leafing. She gives expression to her ongoing deconstruction of images of women through the lens of Zen Buddhist practice. Her work has exhibited nationwide. She works as an educator, collaborator, program director, and practicing artist. In 2021, Blythe launched Open Space Education in response to the growing need for access to nature, art, and alternative modes of learning for young people in Richmond. Blythe’s academic background combines an MA in Buddhism and Art from the University of Colorado, with undergraduate studies in Japanese religion and art at the University of Richmond. She currently serves as President on the board of Richmond Zen. ARTIST STATEMENT Zen is a practice of losing myself. Through meditation, I’m undoing who I thought I was and becoming more fully myself. Pulling from American mail-order catalogs (circa 1940-80), I use these images to undo them. I transform mainstream images of women into evocative portraits. My women become boundless. The image transfer process conveys this transformation. It involves enlarging and printing images, layering them with glue, saturating with water, then rubbing away the paper until I’m left with a transparent film that I incorporate into the collage. Transparency allows multiple layers in a single portrait to be viewed all at once, as if arraying the many layers of our own complex natures. Through this process, I find clarity. The torn edges of the acrylic transfers recall my background in Japanese art. Like expressive brushstrokes in calligraphy, the edges of my transfers have meaning. They emphasize how these women have been lifted from the magazine pages to be seen anew. For many, the familiar isn’t worth a closer look, but transparent skins reveal what’s beneath the surface. The line between viewer and viewed dissolves. We become vast and radiant like these women, and more fully ourselves. @blythexking</image:caption>

<image:title>Online Gallery - Embrace – Charisma Panchapakesan - Charisma Panchapakesan – Drawing & Mixed Media</image:title>
<image:caption>Charisma Panchapakesan is a Toronto-based visual artist whose work explores the intersection of ecology, cultural memory, and imagination. Trained as an architect, she brings a love of precision, structure, and symbolism into her drawing practice. Working primarily in mixed media—pastel, ink, graphite, and paint—she creates intricately detailed drawings that merge natural history with the surreal, reimagining animals as carriers of story and emotion. Born in Bahrain to Indian parents and immigrating to Canada in 1989, Panchapakesan’s work is deeply shaped by the storytelling traditions she grew up with as part of the South Asian diaspora. In both Indian folklore and Hinduism, animals often serve as moral figures, tricksters, and sacred beings—mirrors of human character and carriers of wisdom. She draws from this heritage to explore how stories and symbols of animals can bridge cultures, evoke empathy, and restore our connection to the natural world. Her recent series focuses on endangered species, reflecting on how their disappearance signals not only ecological loss but a fading of shared myths and emotional resonance. Through narrative imagery, she examines the fragile bonds between survival, reverence, and memory. Panchapakesan’s work has been exhibited in Canadian museums and galleries internationally. Her pieces are held in notable collections, including the City of Toronto’s Fine Art Collection, and she has written and illustrated two children’s books that showcase her art alongside original rhyming poetry. She is also the co-founder of CAB Architects in Toronto. ARTIST STATEMENT My work explores the intersection of ecology, cultural memory, and imagination. Drawing from my architectural training and South Asian heritage, I am fascinated by the ways that line, pattern, and symbolism can carry meaning across time and culture. I often draw on motifs, forms, and visual language from classical and traditional art, reinterpreting them to tell stories about animals in ways that feel both familiar and new. By taking iconography that is recognizable and transforming it through the lens of animal storytelling, I aim to create work that surprises, engages, and invites reflection. Animals are central to my practice, not only as subjects of beauty or scientific curiosity, but as carriers of story, allegory, and emotional resonance. Much of my work is influenced by the Indian storytelling traditions I grew up with, where animals are moral figures, companions, and sacred beings. I bring this perspective into contemporary contexts, exploring how these creatures continue to shape human understanding and empathy. Through my drawings, I hope to rewild the imagination, restoring emotional and symbolic connections between people and the natural world. My work considers how we remember, honor, and care for other species, nurturing empathy and reflection. By blending cultural heritage, visual experimentation, and ecological awareness, I aim to create narratives that bridge the human and non-human worlds, renewing the threads that connect nature, culture, and imagination. @charismapanch</image:caption>

By blending cultural heritage, visual experimentation, and ecological awareness, I aim to create narratives that bridge the human and non-human worlds, renewing the threads that connect nature, culture, and imagination. @charismapanch</image:caption>

Artist Statement As a contemporary relief printmaker, my work is deeply rooted in the exploration of womanhood, body autonomy, and body positivity. Through lino and woodcut prints, I seek to reclaim and celebrate the female form, acknowledging its power, complexity, and beauty in all its manifestations. My prints are not only an exploration of the self but a call to embrace the natural world and its connection to our identities. Nature, in all its cycles and rhythms, serves as a metaphor for the human body, and both become sites of transformation and growth. With a background in illustration, my work is imbued with a strong narrative element, where folklore and magic intertwine with the mundane. Each piece is crafted by hand, ensuring that every mark and texture adds to the story being told. I draw inspiration from the wisdom of ancient myths, as well as the everyday experiences of modern life, blending the fantastical with the familiar. My prints encourage a dialogue between the sacred and the everyday, offering space for the viewer to contemplate their own relationship with selfhood, the body, and the world around them. The tactile nature of relief printing allows me to connect with my medium in a personal and intimate way, adding layers of meaning to each work. In the act of carving and printing, I engage in a dialogue with the materials themselves, drawing upon their rawness to express the nuances of identity and the strength found in vulnerability. Through my art, I strive to inspire a deeper understanding of the body as a site of empowerment, a source of magic, and a testament to the enduring relationship between the individual and the environment. @printsbythebay</image:caption>

<image:caption>Christine R. Choi is a photographer based in Apex, North Carolina. By day she shapes products and systems in the corporate world; by night, her creative brain steps forward, chasing moments of contrast, stillness, and emotional texture. ARTIST STATEMENT For Deep Rest, I pair childhood portraits—taken in familiar places like playgrounds, kitchen counters, and living rooms—with recent selfies of myself. Placing these images side by side highlights the quiet continuity of how we see ourselves, shaped by the everyday spaces that held us then and still influence us now. The juxtapositions act as a call for pause: an invitation to slow down long enough to notice the parts of ourselves that persist beneath the noise of daily life. They’re small reminders that peace isn’t always found in stillness, but in seeing ourselves with a little more honesty and a little less urgency. Through these pieces, I’m searching for moments where past and present meet without needing to resolve anything—just long enough to breathe. @crchoi</image:caption>

<image:title>Online Gallery - Playground – Christine R. Choi - Christine R. Choi – Photographer</image:title>

<image:title>Online Gallery - Nap Time – Nicole Revy - Nicole Revy – Relief Printmaker & Illustrator</image:title>

<image:title>Online Gallery - Veil of Light – Melissa Casanova - Melissa Casanova – Oil Painting</image:title>
<image:caption>Melissa Casanova is a Dominican-American painter based in Richmond, Virginia. Her work explores the intersection of heritage, memory, and imagination—blending abstraction and realism to create vibrant spaces where emotion and story intertwine. Through layered textures, luminous color, and expressive brushwork, she captures the invisible threads that connect us to our origins, dreams, and inner landscapes. Melissa’s creative process often begins with intuitive mark-making and evolves through rhythm, movement, and reflection. Each piece serves as both mirror and meditation—a moment of stillness within motion. Her collections, including Heritage Dreams and Awakening, have been exhibited and continue to evolve in dialogue with her travels and cultural roots. Casanova donates a portion of every sale to support access to vision and hearing care through her work with the Virginia Eye Institute Foundation. When she’s not painting, she can be found exploring galleries, collaborating with local artists, or experimenting with new mediums that bridge the tactile and emotional. ARTIST STATEMENT In my work, stillness is not the absence of motion—it’s the moment where emotion, color, and memory meet in quiet conversation. My paintings explore that balance between energy and ease, layering movement with reflection to capture what rests beneath the surface. In each collection, I lean into intuition, allowing rhythm and flow to guide each stroke. The result is both vibrant and meditative—a visual pause that reminds us rest can also be radiant, that even in stillness, life continues to pulse and expand. @melissacasanovaart</image:caption>

<image:title>Online Gallery - Daisy Dance – Katharine T. Jacobs - Katharine T. Jacobs – Sculptor & Multidisciplinary Artist</image:title>
<image:caption>Katharine T. Jacobs is a sculptor and multidisciplinary artist based in rural California. Her work examines the emotional and physical impacts of addiction, illness, and the complexities of care. Grounded in personal experience, her practice explores what it means to live in ongoing relationship with grief and chronic illness. She received a BFA in photography before expanding into sculpture and fiber-based media during her MFA, developing a more tactile and process-oriented approach. Her work engages with themes of disability, femininity, and play, often through contemporary applications to traditional Fine Art and Craft practices. @katharinetjacobs</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mel Titus has been in clay or mud since childhood, beginning with slipware alongside her mother in the 1960s. In the early 1970s, she apprenticed at the Hand Workshop, now the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, where her foundation in ceramic craft deepened. She later worked as a studio assistant at Freimarck Pottery in the 1980s and Camden Clayworks from 2012–2013. At age 60, Mel opened her own pottery studio, Mel’s Pottery, originally in Ashland and now located in Richmond’s Bryan Park area. Guided by her belief that “Nature inspires my work. Nature inspires my life,” her pieces reflect a lifelong conversation with the earth itself. @mtitus7</image:caption>
